Whimsy, exploration, abstraction and play - these sum up my practice.
Art making on a full-time basis came later in life for me. I moved from pixels to pigments and now work mainly with acrylics. To be Canadian, is to know that vast expanses of wilderness are never far away. Living in the Rockies, defines my lifestyle and art practice.
Each piece is approached as a new adventure, a new exploration. I enjoy reaching beyond the tried and true. Basically, my process is a dance between intuition and careful consideration. I use semi-transparent layers and mark-making to create visual depth and interest.
In this hyper-visual world of ours, abstraction and semi-abstraction go beyond the literal and instead, invite the viewer to pause, imagine and dream.
